Hi, I'm Joel. I like computers and tinkering around on them.
I'm a senior at the University of British Columbia, where I am pursuing my bachelor's in Computer Science and Statistics. I'm currently on an international research exchange at A*STAR in Singapore, advancing RNA large language models. My research interests primarily revolve around deep learning and its applications, particularly for computer vision and language processing. I'm also quite interested in other machine learning topics such as reinforcement learning, bioinformatics, and AI safety. I love home-labbing, hosting whatever I can on home servers.
In my free time, I've been reading, trying to get back into guitar, and touching more grass outdoors.
